Highlights of Hamrar Campsite

Modern Security

Hamrar was the only campsite we visited with a security system. At check-in, our license plate was camera recorded, and the gate opened automatically when we arrived or left. This added convenience and a sense of safety camping in Akureyri.

Reliable Wi-Fi

Unlike most campsites in Iceland, Hamrar offered strong and consistent Wi-Fi. Multiple routers placed throughout the property ensured reliable connectivity, not just near the entrance.

Ample Restroom Facilities

The campsite had three restroom areas. The one by the entrance featured spacious, clean showers with plenty of privacy, making it the most comfortable facility we encountered.

Functional Kitchen with Unique Features

The shared kitchen and dining area, though modest in size, included everything campers needed. Notably, it was the only campsite with a refrigerator, perfect for storing perishables during our stay.

Beautiful Grounds

Hamrar Campsite stood out for its scenic surroundings. With landscaped grounds, charming bridges, and streams, it offered a peaceful retreat after a day of exploring.
