Unlike some other campsites, camping in Egilsstaðir is open around the clock, offering maximum flexibility for late arrivals or midnight showers!
Spacious and Clean Kitchen
The kitchen was large and well-equipped, complete with plenty of towels and cloths available for everyone to keep the space clean. This small but thoughtful touch made camping in Egilsstaðir a big difference.
Comfortable Laundry Facilities
The laundry room even had a cozy sofa, making it a comfortable spot to wait while your clothes were being washed.
Clean and Private Bathrooms
Camping in Egilsstaðir featured three individual shower rooms, all clean and available at any time. This was a huge upgrade compared to the public shower setup at Vik, where there were only four open showers requiring coins and closing by 10:30 PM.
Convenient Location
Directly across the road, there was a gas station and supermarket. Having easy access to supplies and fuel made this campsite incredibly convenient for travelers.

Our CamperVan Rental
For an unforgettable Ring Road self-drive adventure, choosing the right campervan rental is key! We compared multiple car rental platforms and websites, carefully considering price, reviews, and overall value, and ultimately chose Lava Car Rental. Our campervan came fully equipped with everything we needed: sleeping bags, a full cooking set including a portable gas stove, brand-new IKEA tableware, a drinking water tank (was filled full at the pickup), a foldable table, and more.
