The Spray River West trail (Goat Creek Trail TCT on app Alltrails) offers tracksetting (groomed and maintained by Park Canada) and skate skiing area. While this route is popular with skiers, snowshoers, and walkers, we are pleased to find it in relatively good condition despite heavy use. It’s about 5.5 km to the bridge where the West meets the East.
Spray River East Trail

In contrast, Spray River East Trail sees only a fraction of the traffic. Its firm, well-preserved tracks offered some of the best conditions we had. Snowshoers had thoughtfully stayed in the center, preserving the ski tracks. This trail’s gentler terrain is ideal for a more relaxed skiing. At several points, the trail opens up to reveal stunning vistas of the surrounding mountains, and Spray River deep down in the valley (in my vedio).
Rest Stop on Spray River Loop

Where the east and west trails meet, you’ll find a shelter and a picnic table – a great spot to have a rest and take in the tranquil surroundings.
The Spray River Loop ski trail has quickly become one of my favorite winter escapes in Banff. Whether you’re an experienced skier or just starting out, this trail offers something special for everyone.
